Day 1: Arrive in Delhi (International flight)

  • You will arrive at the Capital city of India “Delhi”. After clearing immigration and other formalities at the airport you will be met by our representative at arrival hall terminal where you will find many people paging for their guests. Out of them you will find our representative holding a placard with your name written on it. He will assist and escort you to your vehicle.
  • Post warm welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel, where our representative will complete all check-in formalities and handover the room keys to you.
  • The rest of day will be at leisure for independent activities / overcome Jetlag.

Day 2: In Delhi (Local sightseeing tour)

  • Breakfast will be served at your hotel.
  • Explore Old Delhi in the first half of the day. The sightseeing tour will begin with visit to Emperors. Later proceed for visit to The Jama Masjid (mosque) and enjoy the rickshaw ride on busy roads of ChandniChowk. Also drive past Old Fort
  • The next half day will be reserved for visit to New Delhi. Start with QutubMinar, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi, The QutubMinar is constructed with red sandstone and marble, and is the tallest minaret in India, with a height of 72.5 meters. It contains 379 stairs and the base diameter is 14.3 meters and it narrows to 2.7 meters at the last storey. Your next stop will be Humayun’s Tomb. During the drive you will pass Connaught place, India gate, RastrapatiBhawan (President’s House) and some other important building.

Day 3: Delhi – Jaipur

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Check-out and transfer to Safdarjung railway station to connect your Royal Journey – Palace on Wheels train
  • At Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway station, once boarding formalities are undertaken you will be afforded a warm and traditional welcome before boarding the Palace on Wheels. You will be escorted to your cabin and given a brief familiarization tour by the Khidmatgars with a welcome drink, as we start our week-long journey through Rajasthan.
  • 1830 hrs train will depart from the station.

Day 4: In Jaipur

  • Breakfast is served in the comfort of your sleeper cabin.
  • The first stop of Palace on Wheels is Jaipur, one of the most well planned cities of the world in its time. This capital city of Rajasthan, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded by Maharaja Swai Jai Singh II in 1727 A.D. To explore the city, an air-conditioned coach takes you to HawaMahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, which is a remarkable five storied building along the main street of the old city in pink splendor with semi-octagonal and delicate honeycombed sandstone windows. This is followed by a visit to Amber Fort, eight kms. away, where rides on caparisoned elephants add to the ambiance.
  • Later, you may enjoy shopping for Jaipur’s famous jewelry, handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles. After lunch at a Palace Hotel, you are off to the City Palace, home of the erstwhile royal family. Right across the road from the City Palace is the JantarMantar, the largest observatory built by the Sawai Jai Singh II. The luxury coaches take you back to Palace on Wheels where dinner is served on board.

Day 5: Sawai Madhopur&Chittorgarh

  • One can almost sense a life of the wilderness as the Palace on Wheels arrives in SawaiMadhopur, a city named after its founder Maharaja SawaiMadho Singh I. After breakfast, visit the Ranthambore National Park, where the ruins of a 10th century fort are located. This wildlife sanctuary is considered to be the country’s best for observing and photographing the activities of the tiger. (Please note that the Ranthambore National Park is closed during the month of September, instead guests will be taken to Mansigh Sanctuary.) Upon return to the Palace on Wheels, depart for Chittaurgarh, where you have the opportunity to watch the colorful countryside passing by in the daylight.
  • After lunch on board you are in Chittaurgarh. Images of love and valor, scars of battles won and lost, the thrice-beseigedChittaurgarh Fort is all this and more.
  • The Luxury coach will take you back to Palace on Wheels; Dinner will be served on board. The Palace on Wheels stays in Chittorgarh station until the early morning before departing for Udaipur.

Day 6: Udaipur

  • Breakfast is served in your sleeper cabin.
  • Arrive this morning in Udaipur, the Lake City, which was founded by MaharanaUdai Singh of Mewar in 1559 A.D. after the Sisodia dynasty was driven away by the Mughals. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites of Udaipur are the dream-like marble palaces – the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichola. After lunch at one of the fine hotels, take an exhilarating visit to City Palace.
  • The Luxury coach will take you back to Palace on Wheels; Dinner will be served on board.

Day 7: Jaisalmer

  • Breakfast is served in your sleeper cabin.
  • In the heart of the Thar Desert lies Jaisalmer, founded by RawalJaisal in 1156 A.D. Here the yellow sandstone fort is an imposing sight, towering magnificently over the city. Discover the painstakingly latticed havelis or mansions with their grand facades. The Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli are fine examples of the stone carver’s skill. One can shop for fine pattu shawls, mirror work, embroidered articles, wooden boxes, trinkets, silver jewelry and curios.
  • After lunch on board, go for an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam before sipping a refreshing cup of tea.
  • The Luxury coach will take you back to Palace on Wheels, Later enjoy the dinner and the cultural programs at the hotel in Jaisalmer.

Day 8: Jodhpur

  • Breakfast is served in your sleeper cabin.
  • This morning, the Palace on Wheels arrives in Jodhpur, a city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions. This second largest city of Rajasthan, founded by RaoJodha in 1459 A.D. is known for its rock-solid Mehrangarh Fort. The grand palaces within – MotiMahal, Sheesh Mahal, PhoolMahal, SilehKhana and DaulatKhana are impressive examples of architectural excellence. Near the fort complex lies JaswantThada and a group of royal cenotaphs made of white marble.
  • After lunch at a royal Palace hotel, return to the Palace on Wheels. While in Jodhpur you can shop for exquisite handcrafted articles including the famous breeches, embroidered shoes, metal curios, silverware, paintings and tie dyed fabrics.
  • The Luxury coach will take you back to Palace on Wheels; Dinner will be served on board.

Day 9: Bharatpur& Agra

  • Early this morning, the train arrives in Bharatpur, the capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal. After breakfast, pay a visit to the world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place of thousands of egrets, Siberian cranes, migratory water fowl and other species of birds.
  • From Bharatpur you board the train again and arrive at the TajMahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. This pristine monument of undying love was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen MumtazMahal. Also visit Agra Fort and see other monuments and tombs about town. Agra is known for its splendid marble inlay work like the Pietra Dura work on the Taj, leather goods and jewelry.
  • The Luxury coach will take you back to Palace on Wheels; Dinner will be served on board. We bid farewell to the Palace on Wheels and perhaps a final drink in the lounge bar.

Day 10: Arrive Delhi

  • Departure from Delhi (By international flight)
  • Breakfast is served in your sleeper cabin.
  • Today morning you will disembark from the train at the Safdarjung Railway Station and met by our representative who will further transfer you to international airport to connect your flight back home.
