The rest of the day is yours to relax and overcome any jetlag.

DAY 02: EXPLORING COCHIN AND THE FORT AREA

In the morning, embark on a half-day sightseeing tour of Cochin. Visit Mattancherry, where you’ll explore the oldest Jewish Synagogue in India, dating back to 1568. Please note that the synagogue is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Jewish holidays due to religious observances. You’ll also visit The Dutch Palace, constructed in 1555. Don’t miss the coronation hall and the impressive Ramayana murals. Next, discover St. Francis Church, the first European-style church in India, dedicated to Santo Antonio, the patron saint of Portugal.

In the evening, immerse yourself in the enchanting Kathakali dance show. This traditional dance form from southern India showcases elaborate costumes and makeup. You’ll witness the artists preparing for their final performance.

DAY 03: COCHIN TO THEKKADY (5-HOUR DRIVE)

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Thekkady. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and freshen up. Later, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar.

Periyar Lake is situated within the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve, a wildlife lover’s paradise located in the Western Ghats of Kerala. The sanctuary offers breathtaking views and a diverse range of wildlife.

DAY 04: THEKKADY TO KUMARAKOM (5-HOUR DRIVE)

After breakfast, drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, indulging in independent activities.

Kumarakom is renowned for its serene beauty, with sunlight glistening on the waters and darter birds gracefully going about their fishing. Relax and immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings, and explore the neighboring Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where lively birdcalls fill the air.

DAY 05: KUMARAKOM TO ALLEPPEY (HOUSEBOAT)

After breakfast at your hotel, spend the morning at leisure, engaging in independent activities. Later, transfer to the Alleppey boat jetty to board your houseboat, which will gently sail through the backwaters of Kerala. All meals will be served on board.

The backwaters of Kerala consist of interconnected brackish lagoons, lakes, and canals that run parallel to the Arabian Sea coast. This extensive network of waterways, nourished by numerous rivers, stretches for half the length of Kerala state.

DAY 06: ALLEPPEY TO MARARIKULAM (HOUSEBOAT)

Enjoy breakfast on your houseboat while taking in the spectacular views of the backwaters. After breakfast, bid farewell to the crew and disembark at the Alleppey boat jetty. From there, you will be transferred to your resort in Mararikulam, located near Alleppey. Check in at the resort and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Marari Beach in Kerala derives its name from the nearby fishing village of Mararikulam. The village has preserved its ancient traditions and lifestyle, reminiscent of how it was a century ago. Witness local fishermen venturing out to sea each day to provide for their households.

DAY 07 & 08: LEISURE TIME IN MARARIKULAM

These two days are reserved for you to unwind and relax before returning home and resuming your daily routine. Take the opportunity to lounge by the poolside of your hotel or enjoy the serene atmosphere of Marari Beach. Some hotels even offer access to a private beach.

DAY 09: DEPARTURE FROM COCHIN (INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT)

Today, you will be transferred to Cochin’s international airport, approximately 1½ to 2 hours away from Marari Beach. Board your flight back home or to your onward destination, bidding farewell to the enchanting land of Kerala.

Please note that all meals on the houseboat are provided onboard. However, due to the limited availability of ingredients while sailing on the lake, the variety of food and curries may be limited.
