What is the best time to visit Asia?

When to visit Asia depends heavily on which part of the continent you’re going to, as the weather can be very different from one country to the next. For the most part, though, the best time to visit is during the dry season, when you can enjoy more sunshine and fewer rainy days.

Here is a breakdown for each of the destinations you asked about:

Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, etc.)

  • Best time to visit: November to February
  • Why: This is the dry season for most of the region. You’ll experience warm temperatures, low humidity, and plenty of sunshine, making it perfect for exploring cities, trekking, and relaxing on the beaches.

The Maldives

  • Best Time to Visit: December to April.
  • Why: These are the driest and sunniest months in the Maldives. You’ll find calm seas and excellent visibility for snorkeling and diving. While it’s considered the peak tourist season, the weather is consistently beautiful.

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

  • Best Time to Visit: October to April.
  • Why: The UAE experiences its mildest weather during these months, which is a welcome relief from the intense summer heat. Temperatures are pleasant enough for outdoor activities like desert safaris and exploring cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi on foot. The winter months are the peak season for tourism.

General Asia

Because “Asia” is such a vast continent, it’s best to look at it by region.

  • South Asia (India, Nepal, Bhutan): The winter months from October to March are ideal, as the weather is cool and dry. This is especially good for trekking in the Himalayas.
  • Central Asia: The shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are perfect for exploring the ancient Silk Road cities and stunning landscapes with comfortable temperatures.
