Day 1: Arrival in Chennai (International Flight)

Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative as you exit the Arrival Terminal building. After completing customs, immigration formalities, and collecting your baggage, our representative will transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to engage in independent activities and relax.

Day 2: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a sightseeing tour of Chennai. Your tour will begin with a visit to Fort St. George, presently used by the Tamil Nadu Government, which houses a museum showcasing remnants from the East India Company and the British period. From there, proceed to Mylapore and visit the Kapaleeswarar Temple, the largest temple in Chennai, dating back to the 13th century AD. Drive past Marina Beach, the second longest beach in the world.

In the afternoon, you will be driven to Mahabalipuram, with a stopover in Kanchipuram, a bustling pilgrimage center known for its remarkable temple precincts. After exploring Kanchipuram, continue your journey to Mahabalipuram. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and enjoy the evening at your leisure.

Day 3: Mahabalipuram

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram. Visit the Shore Temple, the only remaining temple among the famous Seven Pagodas. This five-storied temple, built by King Raja Singha in the 7th century, showcases exquisite Dravidian sculpture. Explore Arjuna’s Penance and the Mandapams, which are intricately carved cave temples in Mahabalipuram.

Day 4: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry

After breakfast, depart for Pondicherry (105 km / 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and freshen up. Later, embark on a sightseeing tour of Pondicherry, starting with a visit to Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Founded by Sri Aurobindo Ghose in 1926, the ashram combines spiritual exercises, yoga, physical activity, and productive work to help individuals reach their evolutionary zenith.

Day 5: Pondicherry – Chidambaram – Thanjavur

After breakfast, continue your journey to Thanjavur, with a brief stopover in Chidambaram (1.5-hour drive). Visit the famous Natarajan Temple in Chidambaram, the capital of the Cholas from AD 907 to 1310. While driving from Chidambaram to Thanjavur, you can also explore the temples of Kumbakonam. Upon arrival in Thanjavur, check-in at your hotel.

Day 6: Thanjavur – Karaikudi

After an early breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Thanjavur. Visit the Brihadeeshwara Temple, an architectural marvel built by Raja Chola in the 10th century. Explore the palace, which houses the Tamil University Museum, Art Gallery, and Saraswati Mahal Library with its collection of palm leaf and paper manuscripts.

Later, drive to Karaikudi (approximately 160 km / 4 hours), with a stopover in Trichy. In Trichy, visit the Rock Fort, an ancient landmark with a climb of 434 steps leading to the Ganapati and Shiva Temples. Continue to Karaikudi and check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the local village at your own pace.

Day 7: Karaikudi – Rameshwaram

Continue your journey to Rameshwaram, located at the southern tip of the country (approximately 145 km / 3 hours). Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and relax.

Day 8: Rameshwaram – Madurai

In the early morning, visit Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple, renowned for its magnificent corridors and sculptured pillars. Before entering the temple, take a bath in the 22 theerthakundams within the temple premises. Later, drive to Madurai (approximately 170 km / 3.5 hours). Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel.

In the late evening, witness the closing ceremony (Ardhajama Pooja) at Meenakshi Temple. Please note that foreigners (non-Hindus) are not allowed inside the inner sanctum of the temple.

Day 9: Madurai – Periyar (Entering Kerala State)

Day 11: Backwaters to Cochin

After breakfast on the houseboat, disembark at the Alleppey boat jetty and proceed to Cochin (2-hour drive). Cochin, also known as Kochi, is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of Kerala. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel. In the evening, witness a performance of Kathakali, a unique dance-drama of Kerala known for its intricate hand gestures, facial expressions, and choreography.

Day 12: In Cochin

In the morning, take a walking tour of Fort Cochin, where you can explore the old town’s fascinating details. Visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue, built in 1568 and rebuilt by the Dutch after its destruction. Explore the Dutch Palace, known for its coronation hall and murals depicting the Ramayana. Day 13: Departure from Cochin
